Medication Management Refresher 2021

This Course is one part of the 80 hour Direct Care Worker program. This (8) eight-hour refresher course describes Nevada regulations on “scope of practice” for caregivers. It explains why it is important to follow the instructions as they are written by physicians. You may take this training without taking the other 72 hours of the program.

We explain how to keep accurate medication documents and the use of medication administration record [MAR], medication delivery log, medication refusal or missed medications. Reviews the Med Tech terminology and reviews the different routes that medication may be administered. Review of the appropriate abbreviation when documenting medications. #108.   You must pass with 80% or higher at the campus training center. THIS IS NOT AN OPEN BOOK. You will have 96 hours access to this course only. You will have to contact the office if the time expires.

Caregiving Fundamentals & In-Home Care Aide

This is an accelerated class for Caregiving/ PCA and will address the basic knowledge to provide Activities of Daily living to individuals who are in Assisted Living or Residential Care facilities or private homes. You may take this class as part of an initial training to become a  Direct Care Worker/PCA. This Course is also one part of the 80 hour Direct Care Worker and or the 45 hour In-Home Care Aide program. You may consider taking all of the classes and receive a certificate for any of the qualifying  programs.

This course will provide demonstrable knowledge to assist the elderly in maintaining their independence and retaining the quality of life. During the study, students will understand and demonstrate the core fundamentals of activities of daily living. They will have a workable comprehension of infection control procedures and proper body mechanics. You will have 96 hours of access to this course only. You will have to contact the office if the time expires. You must pass the final exam with 80% or better.

Chronic Illness Training

This Course is one part of the 80 hour Direct Care Worker and or the 45 hour In-Home Care Aide program. This eight-hour course addresses Chronic Illnesses and General Symptoms, Risk Factors, complications and how best to implement appropriate care. You may take this class without having to take the other courses for the 80 hour or 45 hour program. 

We examine Heart Disease, Cardiovascular Disease, Cerebrovascular Disease, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, Hypertension, Kidney disease, Liver Disease, Arthritis, Osteoporosis, and Cancer. We look at the psychological and cognitive conditions of mood disorders such as Anxiety disorder, OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder), and Major and Chronic Depression. You will have 96 hours access to this course only. You will have to contact the office if the time expires.You must pass the final exam with 80% or better.

Alzheimer’s and Dementia Training

This Course is one part of the 80 hour Direct Care Worker and or the 45 hour In-Home Care Aide program. This two-hour course addresses Alzheimer’s and Dementia Training. You may take this class without having to take the other courses for the 80 hour or 45 hour program. 

The Alzheimer’s and Dementia Care 2 hour course (CEU’s) will instruct caregivers/PCA’s to recognize that persons with dementia have the same basic needs for security, shelter, nutrition and affection as other adults. Students will learn about the four brain lobes and how atrophy of those areas affect the persons actions, feelings and behaviors. You will learn how to meet the needs as this progressive disease causes increasing dependence on the Direct Care Worker. This is part of a 16 hour training program and will increase in a set of Series to accomplish the hours. Remember all our courses are approved for Continuing Education Units from the Nevada Nursing Board. (CEU’s)

Mental Illness Training

This Course is one part of the 80 hour Direct Care Worker and or the 45 hour In-Home Care Aide program. This course will cover a variety of Mental disorders including Intellectual Disabilities, Cerebral Palsy, Anxiety Disorders and Mood Disorders.You may take this class without having to take the other courses for the 80 hour or 45 hour program.   

This course will cover psychiatric disorders such as Bipolar, Schizophrenia, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. You will receive techniques on proper positive behavioral support, communication techniques and more. What are appropriate interactions with the person who have Mental Illness and how to work with other outside agencies?

Elder Abuse Training

This Course is one part of the 80 hour Direct Care Worker and the 45 hour In-Home Care Aide program. This course provides the proper ways to identify elder abuse and neglect. You may take this class without having to take the other courses for the 80 hour or 45 hour program. 

The information contains the Nevada state policy NRS 200.5095 on reporting procedures and penalties for failure to report.

This course covers the mandated information on Elder Abuse and Neglect training. You will understand who is considered a mandated reporter and what are the five elder abuse categories in Nevada.

This training meets the requirements for Senate Bill 129.

Aging Overview Course

This Course is one part of the 80 hour Direct Care Worker program. This five-hour course addresses the special needs of the elderly and how best to implement appropriate care. You may take this class without having to take the other courses for the 80 hour or 45 hour program. 

We examine the fall risks of the elderly and how to prevent or reduce the impact on a resident. We discuss the biological and physical aspects of the aging and implications for care.
Topics include Heart and Lungs, Kidney and Bladder, Muscles, Bones, Tendons and Ligaments, Nervous and Immune System, Brain, Intelligence and Memory, Vision, Hearing, Digestion, Taste, Smell, Mouth and Teeth, Skin, Hair, and Nails.We will cover the proper care for bedridden clients and have an overview of End of Life and Hospice care. You will have 96 hours access to this course only. You will have to contact the office if the time expires. You must pass the final exam with 80% or better.
